While growing up as an African child, I was taught one of the basic principles of the African tradition. I was taught that, it is cultured for me as an African child to show appreciation for every good deed done to me, either by my parents or anyone else. So in consonance with this basic principle of the African tradition, I am here to show my profound gratitude to the Lawsanaid Community. For providing a platform which has improved my ICT skills.

The journey to my university education started in the year 2016, on getting to the university I knew nothing or little concerning the use of the laptop computer. I went to the university with the knowledge of the type writer and braille gained from the special school I attended before proceeding to the secondary school, while in the university, I met a very kind hearted visually impaired friend who taught me a little bit of the use of the laptop computer. Due to the fact that we are both students, he was able to teach me only the introductory aspect of it. Since then, I have been longing for an opportunity where I will be able to improve my computer skills. As a visually impaired person, it is not negotiable for u to be backward in terms of getting oneself acquainted with the use of the laptop computer, my inability to operate the laptop freely just like any other person on my own without the help of a sighted person, has been a great concern to me.

So when Lawsanaid provided this platform for us to learn, I see it as a great privilege to improve myself with the use of the computer. But today, the story is different because I now operate the laptop freely on my own, even as far as navigating around the internet without the help of a sighted person.

The ICT training class started in the month of July with an instructor from Blind Accessibility Tips who is so committed to what she does. Couple with the fact that some of us had little experience before attending the class, she still took her time to start from the very beginning down to the internet. My heart felt gratitude also goes to her for being patient, friendly, dedicated and ever ready to teach. Her being open and kind hearted, has also helped me to learn. Trust me if a person is being taught by a tutor who takes his or her job with negligence or with levity, a student like me will find it very difficult to cope. But this instructor’s case turned out to be different.

With all honesty and gratefulness to the Lawsanaid community. If this is the only benefit I gained for being a member of this great community, then to me the idea of creating this community is achieved. Once again, I say a very big thank you to the Lawsanaid community and I pray that God will provide the enablement she needs to accomplish her dream.

My feedback on the ICT training.

I want to first express my gratitude to LAWSANAID for the opportunity they have provided so far, I’m indeed grateful for every one of them. I will say since the establishment of this community, we have been empowered in many ways, as law students with disability we know we have people who care for our needs, not just any needs but essential needs which will enable us to achieve other minor ones. I am mostly grateful for the knowledge which has been impacted in us so far. Knowledge is very essential because we learn everyday as we journey in life, we need knowledge to help us interact with our other counterparts in our field study.

Through this acquisition of knowledge, the community introduced us to learning basic computer skills which we will need as law students to enable us to carry out different tasks involving the use of technology. This training, was facilitated through blind accessibility tips whose instructor put in all effort to improve, broadened our knowledge, and put in her best in making sure we understood everything, and apply it in any given time.

I really learned a lot during this training session which I will utilize effectively, I also want to compliment the instructor for her outstanding qualities which I discovered during this training session. I want to appreciate her patience, methods of teaching, this always make me to understand and ask questions whenever I don’t get anything clear. I like the way she also interacts during the sessions; this made me communicate whatever I find difficult to her, God bless you ma for everything.

In all, the sessions were so wonderful and beneficial to me. I am more than grateful to our community LAWSANAID which made this possible for me, I pray God continues to strengthen the members of the community, may this bring more growth to our society, and may we achieve greater Hight by God’s grace.

I want to appreciate blind accessibility tips who made this impacting of knowledge in basic computer skills successful, I pray for greater Hight and achievements for you.

Thanks once again to our community.
